David O'Berry
 
David O'Berry is Director of Information Technology Systems and Services for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services. He is a strong proponent of the use of of open sharing to facilitate secure code reuse, best practices, and in-depth security and visibility concepts in a collaborative environment as a fundamental requirement to a stronger overall digital ecosystem.

In pursuit of that goal, David has served on SC's IT Solutions Committee working towards standards and solutions in all areas of technology throughout the state. As Chairman of the Security Sub-Domain Committee in 2007 he co-led the effort to adopt a state-wide security policy achieving that goal with a unanimous vote while also completing adoption of comprehensive baseline security standards for agencies. David is the Midlands ISSA Chapter President, serves on the certification board for Governance, Risk, Compliance, Security, International, and serves on the Executive Committee for the MS-ISAC as well as the Legislative Committee for the same organization. He participates in NASCIO's Security and Privacy Sub-Committee/Enterprise Architecture Sub-Committee and chairs the Open Group's "Improving the Digital Ecosystem Working Group". David is a member of the McAfee Cybersecurity Experts Council, and works with standards driven organizations, like TCG, to further the goals of practical, flexible, and open information security frameworks.

In 2008 David was awarded Technologist of the Year for the South Carolina IT Director's Association. He holds an honors degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College as well as several certifications including the CRMP, CSSLP, CISSP-ISSAP, ISSMP, MCNE, and CSPM.
