Rear Admiral Robert Day
Assistant Commandant for C4IT, Chief Information Officer

Even the Coast Guard, with its global image of protecting both the country’s water boundaries and running life-saving missions on a daily basis has to have its share of techies. Well, I’m one of them, especially when it comes to mobile technology. My core role is to enhance command, control, communications, computers and information technology’s value in performing CG missions by developing and aligning enterprise strategies, policies, and resource decisions with CG strategic goals, mandates and customer requirements.

World Class
Motorola Droid 2 Global Phone
Motorola’s slide keyboard-enables Droid 2 Global Phone is truly that - global (WCDMA CDMA, GSM, HSDPA 10.2 Mbps (Category 9/10), CDMA EV-DO Release A, EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12, HSUPA 1.8 Mbps), but also packs a fun punch, handling my MP3 player needs, my social networking needs and pretty much anything else I can toss at it!

Visual Communications
iPad 2 with Open Table and Skype Mobile Applications

There’s a reason why the iPad dominates - it is simply and by far the best tablet out there - from hardware design to UI look and feel, it grabs you and never let’s go. Skype is a must-have communications tool.

Waterman Pen

Is there any higher tech device than the absolute best fountain pen you will ever be able to find? A digital pen? I don’t think so!
