Does Your Salary Measure Up?

By  Martha Walz
It’s a topic that everyone is curious about but that no one wants to discuss: how much the other guy in your position is getting paid. Is he getting a bigger salary, more benefits? You no longer have to wonder, because Mobile Enterprise asked and our readers answered in our fourth annual salary survey.

We break down the salary survey by decision-making authority and by job function. Average salaries, numbers of hours worked per week, and numbers of hours spent as a mobile worker per week are all calculated, and benefits beyond salary are tallied. Notably, benefits other than salary decreased in 2010 as compared to 2009 even as salaries stayed mostly flat.

Reductions and raises were reported, and all of these items taken together paint a positive picture of the state of enterprise mobility today. There were no huge jumps in salary in any category this year, but with the economy recovering slowly, staying flat with last year’s salary is positive indeed.

So click here to see if your salary measures up to your peers in the enterprise mobility space.

Also in this issue, our security expert Ben Halpert returns to answer your most pressing security questions. From passwords and authentication to consumerization and privacy, Ben covers it all, with wit and wisdom.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome three new members to our editorial advisory board: Joseph Dechow at Munson Medical Center, Michael King at Gartner, and Alice MacPhee at PSE&G. These new members add to the collective insight and guidance that our entire EAB (listed below) brings to Mobile Enterprise so that we can bring you, our readers, the most up-to-date and pertinent information you need to make mobility a success in your enterprise.

Please join me in welcoming the new members, and I look forward to their contributions to Mobile Enterprise.
