UPS is deploying more than 100,000 Honeywell handheld devices to its drivers beginning in 2011. Field tests of the devices, which will be distributed under UPS's proprietary DIAD V name, are due to begin in mid-2010.
New York's Rochester Institute of Technology is using Cisco's VideoStream service, along with its Unified Wireless Network, to deliver innovative learning solutions to students and faculty, including mobile closed-captioned video for deaf and hearing-impaired students.
NAVTEQ's map data will be used by the United States Postal Service to evaluate how to use space more efficiently at more than 35,000 facilities nationwide. NAVTEQ map data is being used to assess the impact of delivery zone adjustments and reduce costs as facilities are reconfigured.
The U.S. Coast Guard deploys the AtHoc ISWAlerts system for nationwide emergency notification. More than 100 USCG facilities will use the system, which has the capability to reach 50,000 USCG personnel and maritime industry members across dispersed geographical areas via multiple channels, including cellular and satellite phone, email, and SMS.
