announced the launch of two I.T. solutions to deliver improved operational efficiencies and increased cost-effectiveness, flexibility and bandwidth to end users. BT Global Telecom Markets (GTM)
, BT's carrier services business, is introducing the solutions, targeted to broadband and telecom service providers and utility companies in the U.S., to help such companies enhance services to their own customers as well as more effectively secure their IT infrastructures.
The BT Field Force Optimization (FFO)
suite of services has been enhanced to deliver a fully integrated service for companies with mid-sized to large mobile field forces. This optimization solution helps any service provider better communicate with their mobile workers by enabling more efficient scheduling and resource management and mobile business applications at the point of service. As a result, FFO helps businesses improve their resource utilization, reduce abortive visits, vehicle mileage and carbon footprint, comply with employee duty-of-care commitments, and enhance customer service. As well, the service allows mobile workers to access corporate data and applications from any device - anywhere, anytime - by automating and integrating a company's trouble reports, truck rolls and personnel schedules and logistics into a seamless, highly efficient, dynamic, and automated system.
Through such applications, properly integrated within a company's existing processes and systems, businesses will dramatically improve field force productivity and capabilities. They will enhance customer service delivery by enabling workers to respond more quickly to customer questions and resolve customer issues on the spot. As a result, they'll reduce administrative and field service costs, resulting in significant competitive advantage. BT's internal and client deployment experiences with FFO implementation have typically resulted in an 80% improvement in automation that has provided a significant reduction in field force operational expense.
BT's Field Force Optimization offering has evolved through BT's experience gained in developing solutions for its own mobile workforce during the last 10 years. Field Force Optimization is modular and can therefore provide either a turnkey solution or serve as an enhancement to strengthen existing field force solutions.
BT GTM is also now offering BT Dynamic Line Management (DLM) to targeted customers in the U.S. Designed for retailers and wholesalers of DSL (digital subscriber line) services, BT DLM employs dynamic line management techniques to automatically monitor and fine tune DSL lines to maximize speed, stability and availability, while minimizing truck rolls, customer outages, and service interruptions. The service also manages data warehouse and overlay heuristics that maintain and model past line behaviors and anticipate future trends and failures. As a result, BT DLM provides significant cost savings and reduces churn, while increasing service revenue and customer satisfaction.
"Both BT's Field Force Optimization and Dynamic Line Management solutions have been expressly designed to provide companies in the telecom and broadband provider marketplace with operational efficiencies," said Mike DeVito, vice president, Gobal Telecom Markets, BT Americas. "They also help ensure our customers are able to deliver the highest levels of service, reliability and security to their customers in today's world of increasing IT complexities."
