Company Increases Productivity by 35%, Trims Fuel Costs by 20%

— July 07, 2011

Discrete Wireless, Inc., a provider of GPS vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, announced that its client, Pipe Works Services, was able to increase overall fleet productivity by 35% with the MARCUS Fleet Tracking solution. Because the company was able to monitor and modify driver behavior, fleet fuel costs reduced by 20% as well.
Paul Giglio, president and owner of Pipe Works Services, was looking for another GPS fleet tracking solution after he was unhappy with his old leased solution. He selected the MARCUS Fleet Tracking solution because of its intuitive interface, reporting capability and automated email alert functionality.
Giglio says, “The implementation of MARCUS was extremely easy and training was a matter of creating a user name and password. The solution is that easy to use.”
The alert functionality within MARCUS has been especially useful for Pipe Works Services. By setting up alerts, Giglio is immediately notified if a vehicle in his fleet is moving after hours or on the weekend.
Mike Scarbrough, CEO of Discrete Wireless, Inc., says, “Pipe Works Services is a testament to the proven results we provide our customers. By focusing on our customers and the functionality they need to optimize their fleet operations, we build long-term, successful business partnerships.”
Pipe Works Services also created geofences around each driver’s home to monitor driver behavior and hold them accountable for their actions. It was this accountability that paid off. Giglio adds, “Because the drivers knew their behavior and workday profiles were being monitored, we increased overall fleet productivity by 35 percent while decreasing fuel costs by 20 percent. “
