FIS and WorkLight Partner on Mobile Apps for Insurance Industry

FIS Software, a provider of enterprise-level end-to-end policy administration systems for life, annuity, pension, and health products, and WorkLight, a worldwide leader in mobile application platform technology, have partnered to enable insurance companies to provide smartphone and tablet applications to agents, brokers, and policyholders.

“Life and annuity companies face an increasingly demanding mobile world that requires novel ways of connecting with customers while streamlining workflow and information for agents,” says Shay Alon, FIS Software CEO. “Through our partnership with WorkLight, we are enabling our ALIS insurance company clients go to market quickly with rich cross-platform applications, leveraging WorkLight’s Mobile Platform to efficiently extend our existing suite of services to new mobile channels.”

FIS will utilize the WorkLight Mobile Platform to develop, run, and manage custom and pre-packaged mobile applications to extend the reach of and accessibility to its ALIS policy administration solution. The first phase of ALIS mobile capability development and deployment will provide applications for agents and brokers to support new business and servicing apps. FIS also plans to introduce self-service applications for policyholders to access their policies using popular smartphone or tablet devices, for both personal and group business.

“It is becoming increasingly difficult for software companies and service providers to reach new mobile channels without expending extensive resources and incurring significant overhead,” says Shahar Kaminitz, CEO of WorkLight. “By leveraging WorkLight’s platform-based approach, FIS is uniquely well positioned to enable insurance firms to deliver captivating smartphone and tablet applications, while efficiently overcoming key development and management challenges.”

FIS will offer WorkLight-powered mobile applications on a wide range of high-end devices, including the iPhone and iPad, Android smartphones and tablets, BlackBerry, and more. The WorkLight Mobile Platform is a robust, enterprise-grade infrastructure that enables development, integration, and management of rich mobile applications. The platform consists of the WorkLight Studio, a multiplatform IDE for native, Web and hybrid development; the WorkLight Server for secure delivery, deployment, and back-end integration; and the WorkLight Console for ongoing management and dynamic control for applications and infrastructure.
