GD Itronix Rugged Handheld Weighs Under 8 Oz.

General Dynamics Itronix launched its GD400 rugged handheld computer. The device weighs less than 8 oz., and comes with high-accuracy GPS; an imager and barcode scanner; and a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash. It also features a 3-in. water-resistant, daylight-viewable touchscreen display.
 
The GD400 runs on the Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system. It’s IP54 certified against dust and water intrusion and designed to withstand multiple drops onto concrete. The handheld is powered by an ARM Cortex-A8 processor that comes with NEON multimedia technology, which helps to quickly send large transmissions across WWANs and Wi-Fi networks.
 
Additional features include Bluetooth, a digital compass, eight-hour battery life, and cellular network connectivity.
