McGinty Marine Raises Field Productivity 50%

By Mobile Enterprise Editors — August 26, 2014

McGinty Marine Construction is a fast-growing commercial and residential marine contractor. The company has dramatically improved mobile access to critical customer information and construction permits using Soonr Workplace. As a result, McGinty has benefitted from workforce productivity improvements of up to 50%.

The firm is an experienced and professional commercial and residential marine contractor and tidal wetlands consultant that has provided quality workmanship, service, installation and maintenance on the Eastern Shores of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia for over 30 years. McGinty Marine Construction custom designs and replaces bulkheads, boardwalks, docks, piers, sea walls, rip rap, boat lifts and more for waterfront property owners throughout the region.

Mobile Workforce
With a highly mobile workforce of construction and boat lift crews, McGinty Marine Construction needed an online file collaboration and paperless file tracking solution that would enable them to streamline the process of maintaining accurate customer data files.

With mountains of paper to juggle and not enough physical room to store all of the documents, McGinty wanted to have a solution that was safe, had plenty of storage and would give the firm mobile access to information in a secure and controlled way.

"We wanted a better way to stay on top of where we were from start to finish—from receiving signed proposals and starting draws to permits from state and local agencies," said Kristin Langdon, Office Manager, McGinty Marine Construction. "These files could be in five different places. Missing signed proposals or permits mean we cannot complete our projects and can put valuable time to waste."

Problem Solved
To solve its document management challenges, the marine construction firm selected Soonr Workplace. Now it uses the solution everyday, company-wide, to track whether it has a customer's signed acknowledgement, permits from issuing agencies and to help solve ticket requests. It also uses the system to store all of its permit data, proposals and job photos.

ROI includes:

  • 50% improvement in workforce productivity
  • Syncs large files in under a minute
  • Instant search access to vital project information

"We require a very large storage space that syncs with ease and is always up-to-date," said Langdon. "Soonr does this effortlessly. Now, when we are on the go or at a customer’s worksite, we can simply log into the mobile application and pull up any pertinent information that is needed to help the customer get to the end result with their project."
