Eccentex Corporation, a provider of platform-as-a-service (PaaS) applications for Dynamic Case Management (DCM), recently conducted a survey which found that knowledge workers in a variety of industries are demanding mobile and cloud-based access to business-critical information systems and platforms needed to do their job.
Knowledge workers, who are characterized as workers whose main capital is knowledge, point to a need for greater transparency and the ability to gather data from various sources in order to make a decision on a case.
According to the survey, working in the cloud has already become the norm for 45% of respondents, and 36% would prefer that their company adopt cloud technologies.
Thirty-seven percent of respondents said their biggest challenge is not having access to required information remotely when it is needed; 59% said the use of mobile tools “increases productivity,” and 27% said working remotely makes work “easier.”
The survey was conducted online from Oct. 23, 2012 to Nov. 25, 2012, featuring comments from executives in a cross section of industries, company size, job title and function.
