SAP, Sybase and Sky Technologies Partner to Deliver Integrated Mobile Apps

By Tony Rizzo — November 21, 2011

SAP AG and global enterprise mobility solution provider Sky Technologies have announced a new partnership to jointly develop and manage the deployment of new enterprise mobile solutions that specifically leverage the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP). The key goal of the partnership is to allow SAP implementations to gain industry-grade interface management capability from within the SAP environment, ensuring total visibility and end-to-end management of all mobile SAP transactions from a central dashboard.

Sky will provide SAP customers with mobile business applications that will be accessible through Sky’s Secure Container technology.  The container delivers encryption, identity management, data profiling and configure-once, deploy-anywhere capability. It runs on iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows and can be implemented from both private and public app stores.

Additional solutions from SAP's Mobility suite of applications will help Sky Technologies to further extend its offering. The SAP Gateway will deliver a secure application server, simplifying integration with SAP back-end applications and removing the need for extensive experience in SAP integration - another key goal of the partnership.

Sky will also deploy Sybase’s mobile device and application management platform, Afaria, to extend its device administration competence with a range of security capabilities such as locking or wiping a device in the case of loss or theft. Enterprise managed mobility allows large companies to integrate mobile devices such as smartphones into existing SAP applications as a service, enabling information access and business transactions from outside the walls of the enterprise with little complexity, minimal setup time, no infrastructure requirements and at relatively low cost to the business.

Said Troy O’Connor, CEO of Sky Technologies, "It’s exciting to see our product roadmap, which embraces both Sybase and SAP technologies, aligning with SAP’s mobility strategy. With the SUP platform Sky can develop applications and offer customers mobility solutions that are secure, mobile and cloud based. End users will now have access to a user interface that delivers integrated native and web-based applications that are synchronized automatically and populated with data that is stored and transmitted securely."
