UnboundID Updates Identity Management Platform

— January 28, 2011

UnboundID Corp. released a new version of its identity management platform that includes capabilities designed to enable the delivery of cloud services and mobile applications. The latest release of the UnboundID platform, which is the only identity management platform certified as VMware Ready, includes the ability to securely synchronize and integrate multiple identity data repositories in real-time to meet the demands of high-volume cloud and mobile services.

"Unifying identity data from different databases and repositories in real-time is critical to delivering cloud services and new mobile applications. In partnership with UnboundID, we are enabling telecommunications providers to unlock network subscriber data such as a subscriber's location or user preferences," says Jeff Cortley, VP solutions and product management of Alcatel-Lucent's application enablement business.

The UnboundID 3.0 Suite provides a dynamic identity layer that securely leverages a myriad of identity repositories within an organization to deliver unified, customer-centric applications. The latest version also delivers the key capabilities needed to support virtualized, cloud computing, and large-scale mobile application environments, including:

  • Identity Unification– provides bi-directional synchronization between any identity repository, including directories and databases, which links together identity data from disparate data sources to give cloud service providers and enterprises a composite identity for use with any application.
  • Security and Privacy– building on industry-leading security controls, new functionality delivers encryption for all data-at-rest, ensuring each cloud service or mobile application’s sensitive identity data is protected from leakage and exposure.
  • Real-time Extensibility – offers a framework for building extensions that allow cloud service providers and enterprises to quickly deliver new offerings and integration with other cloud offerings and mobile applications without making costly changes to your underlying identity infrastructure.

“Most customer-facing applications today rely on their own identity data stores which creates problems for the end users accessing multiple services from the same vendor,” says Felix Gaehtgens, senior analyst, Kuppinger Cole. “With UnboundID’s suite, organizations can bring together and synchronize siloed identity information. This allows them to securely deliver existing and new customer-facing services in a much quicker way, giving those organizations a competitive edge.”

UnboundID develops a new class of identity management applications designed to process billions of entries and transactions to support the demands of today’s multi-channel applications, such as cloud-based systems, texting and smart phone applications. The UnboundID 3.0 Suite includes the UnboundID Directory Server, the UnboundID Directory Proxy Server, the UnboundID Synchronization Server, the UnboundID Server SDK, as well as the industry’s only updated and maintained LDAP software development toolkit – the UnboundID LDAP SDK for Java.

Who Owns Mobility

Less than one decade ago, smartphones and tablets changed workplace technology—virtually overnight. IT lost "control" and users became decision makers. Is it any wonder we are still trying to figure things out, and that the question of  "who owns mobility" remains? This research examines the current state of mobility in an attempt to answer that question.
