For Oil and Gas Industry, Mentor Introduces Work-Alone Monitoring Safety Solution

By PRESS RELEASE — July 13, 2010

Mentor Engineering is pleased to offer a comprehensive work-alone monitoring solution tailored for the oil and gas industry. Mentor's solution simplifies the work-alone check-in policy to ensure field workers are safe and connected to the office.

With Mentor's solution, office staff can efficiently monitor the work-alone status of all vehicles on their computer screen. Information for each vehicle is clearly listed including the vehicle's duty status and a countdown to the next required check-in.

When a field worker checks in via a cell phone or an intrinsically-safe work-alone pendant, the check-in countdown automatically restarts. If field workers are using the work-alone pendant, companies can choose to have reminder pages sent at pre-set intervals before their required check-in times.

If a field worker misses a check-in, the solution automatically creates an emergency event and highlights the vehicle on the computer screen for office staff. The same process occurs if a field worker presses the panic button on their pendant or if the pendant is motionless for a predetermined amount of time. Office staff can contact the field worker to ensure their safety or immediately send an emergency response team. The company can choose who receives automatic email notification of the missed check-in or panic event.

The solution's reporting capabilities allow managers to generate reports using the work-alone monitoring data to evaluate their fleet's performance in accordance with their work-alone policy.

Mentor's work-alone monitoring solution is part of an oil and gas mobile workforce management software suite called Mentor Streets Oil and Gas. This robust software can dramatically improve operational efficiency in work order management, field operator safety, billing and data entry, as well as fleet monitoring and maintenance.
