MobileOps Tackles App and Data Security

Mobile apps and content management firm MobileOps launched its mobile application and data security offering,dubbed MobileOps Security Center. The company also plans to unveil the beta version of its mobile application monitoring and usage analytics offering, MobileOps Performance Center.

"As the enterprise has to deal with BYOD compatibility as well as securing enterprise apps that reside on enterprise or personal devices, security is a cornerstone issue on the minds of IT executives," said Michael Azoff, principal analyst, Ovum Research.

"The real security challenge for us is to ensure that enterprise data stays secure when it is on any mobile device. We need to be able to ensure that it cannot be stolen, compromised, and selectively deleted when access permissions are revoked," said the head of product development for enterprise mobility at one of the world's largest financial institutions.

Adding Control and Visibility for Enterprise Mobile Applications

MobileOps Security Center and MobileOps Performance Center reduce application lifecycle costs and empower IT teams to deploy and enforce mobile application management policies across the enterprise.

Policies are added to the application by an application "wrapping" technology, MobileOps AppVisor, which allows IT to encapsulate security, monitoring, and analytics policies onto the application, without modifying code or being dependant on specific management platform SDK.

MobileOps Security Center lets enterprise IT teams build security policies into mobile applications using MobileOps AppVisor application wrapper. The MobileOps AppVisor allows enterprises to adopt different security postures for different applications and update these policies in real time and over the air. Enterprises have a suite of policies to ensure

  • secure access control for the mobile application on the device and for services behind the enterprise network DMZ
  • data loss prevention for content at rest on the device and in-transit between the enterprise network and device
MobileOps Performance Center enables enterprises to analyze performance and usage of the mobile application. IT can support mobile users when they have concerns with performance problems and errors, and resolve problems before the business is impacted. Line of business and application support teams can also gain insight on application usage trends to drive better business performance.
