Motivity Labs Launches Cloud-Based Mobile Testing Services

— May 19, 2013

The exclusive Microsoft mobile certification lab worldwide - Motivity Labs - has launched mTaaS, a new cloud based mobile testing service within the company’s mCloud. Designed for enterprises of all sizes as well as for software developers, the new service allows the testing and certification of applications on mobile devices from any major carrier, without the cost of setting up a test lab.

Using mTaaS’s component testing approach, companies can test and certify mobile applications in a consistent way (including testing email and device performance).

“With the shipment of mobile devices now exceeding those of PC’s, mobile devices have become an integral part of the enterprise and ensuring the security of accessing network resources is now a major concern for IT departments,” said Prabhakar Reddy, President and CEO of Motivity Labs.

With mTaaS, enterprises such as OEMs, ISVs and carriers have the capability to take any third party app and put it through comprehensive testing (including functional, regression and rendering) on variety of devices) in a cloud-based, simulated environment.

“As we manage multiple platforms and OEM’s, we are constantly looking to optimize the usability of key features for our customers,” said Todd Thayer, wireless industry veteran. “We depend on Motivity Labs to provide an independent comparison of key features across all our vendors. Motivity Labs evaluates each vendor and creates  a ‘best practice’ document that highlights the best-in-class implementations by feature.  Motivity’s EAS, MDM and Security expertise has enabled our company to drive a higher level of customer satisfaction and vendor compliance.”

For companies who take their apps to platforms and then create APIs for use by others, mTaaS allows them to ensure quality of their product apps by testing and certifying on all the latest mobile devices.  Motivity Labs automate the entire process, with test cases put through automated tools on different platforms as required and supplemented by physical testing by its expert testing team and backed by 24/7 service and support.

mTaaS builds on Motivity Lab’s work with Microsoft in device information security and email synchronization, with whom it has been partnering since its founding in 2009 including the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Logo Program (EAS) to identify smartphones and tablets that are enterprise-ready.  Its work with Microsoft has included authoring the certification guidelines for the EAS Logo Program as well as testing configurations that can include any number of devices in multiple locations of Exchange servers and on multiple carrier networks.
