New GPS Receiver For Nomad, Recon Handhelds

Handheld launches high precision Kenaz GPS

Accessory for the TDS Recon and Nomad allows high accuracy, differentially corrected GPS mapping while retaining tough rugged specifications

CORVALLIS, Ore.--Handheld introduced the new Kenaz GPS receiver designed specifically for the TDS Nomad and Recon handheld computers. The new Kenaz GPS receiver offers sub-meter accuracy for high precision mapping applications. It attaches directly to the top of the handheld to preserve the Nomad's and Recon's MIL-STD-810F and IP67 ratings.

Kenaz features 12-channel parallel tracking (10-channel when tracking SBAS) and is able to maintain accuracy even during temporary loss of differential signal. The full integration, robust design, low power consumption and rapid position computation all increase the functionality of the Nomad and Recon handheld computers.

"The Kenaz combined with the TDS Nomad or Recon will provide a very powerful tool for mobile workers who need the highest degree of GPS accuracy," said Dale Kyle, president of Handheld U.S.

The Kenaz GPS receiver is available for first customer ship November 2008.
