Mobile workforce communications provider Twisted Pair Solutions Inc. has enhanced the capabilities of its WAVE Mobile Communicator application by enabling secure one-to-one PTT communications for users of smartphones, tablets, and handheld computers. Organizations with a mobile workforce can now enable public PTT team communications, private PTT for individual conversations, as well as presence and mapping all from a single application.
Mobile communications for the field services industry continues to undergo rapid change, driven in part by the availability of high-performance smartphones and tablets running critical business applications, like the WAVE Mobile Communicator, and connected over public broadband networks. But the inability of traditional providers like Sprint - which has failed to evolve and provide a credible successor to its once industry-leading iDEN service - has only accelerated the industry's move towards application-based solutions that leverage device and network independence to deliver the next generation of mobile workforce communications.
The WAVE Mobile Communicator augments and extends mobile workforce communications by enabling smartphones and other handheld computer to securely communicate with any other communication system. With the WAVE Mobile Communicator, smartphone users can simply and inexpensively communicate securely with individuals or groups on other smartphones, with mobile workers on LMR networks and with users in their office environment.
WAVE has a number of flexible deployment options. It can be deployed as an on-premise or private-cloud solution for organizations that are highly sensitive to network and data security, or have extensive investments and capacity in their IT infrastructure. It also can be delivered as a cloud service, which promises significantly lower IT costs by avoiding the overhead associated with implementing conventional software in data centers with dedicated staff. WAVE Connections is Twisted Pair's PTT subscription service for organizations serious about their mobile workforce communications that don't want to manage their own on-premise system.
Private PTT functionality for the WAVE Mobile Communicator for Android and iOS will be available in Q4 2012.
