Spring Wireless Is Latest Gainer From SAP's Mobile Lovefest

On the heels of SAP America's $5.8 billion planned acquisition of Sybase comes the news that SAP Ventures is among the investors in a $12 million series D round of financing for mobile enterprise application platform (MEAP) vendor Spring Wireless
 
Spring Wireless announced the financial infusion May 17, 2010.
 
In addition to new investor SAP ventures, returning investors Goldman Sachs and New Enterprise Associates (NEA) are included in the funding round. SAP Ventures, a business unit of SAP AG, invests in "innovative and disruptive software and services companies globally," according to a prepared statement.
 
Spring Wireless provides enterprise mobility software, infrastructure, connectivity and services. The company says it serves more than 330,000 enterprise users within more than 450 enterprises around the world, including businesses such as InBev, Kellogg's, P&G, Kraft Foods, Citibank and Santander.
 
"Spring Wireless' track record in delivering robust software solutions to some of the largest global companies in multiple verticals was a key factor in our decision to invest in the company," said Doug Higgins, Partner in SAP Ventures, in a prepared statement.
