Turn Your Vehicle Into A WiFi Hotspot

By PRESS RELEASE — November 25, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Autonet Mobile, the world's first in-car internet service provider, announced that mobile electronics leader Al & Ed's Autosound will carry and install the Autonet Mobile in-car WiFi router in its 22 Southern California stores and online. A recognized leader in bringing innovative new mobile electronic products to the car, Al & Ed's is Autonet Mobile's first retail partner to offer the company's next generation entertainment system.

Autonet Mobile turns vehicles into WiFi hotspots, delivering reliable and easy-to-use internet access. Passengers can now bring all of their own WiFi-enabled devices such as laptops, web tablets, PSPs, and other devices on the road. The kids in the back seat can feed their Webkinz pets online, do homework, IM or play online games while Mom checks traffic and weather reports, and books a dinner reservation. Autonet Mobile retails for MSRP $499 but will be offered at a special holiday promotional price of $399 and includes three free months of service. Monthly service plans start at $29, and connect every passenger inside the car.

"Al & Ed's Autosound has always pioneered bringing new technologies to the mobile electronics consumer and recent trends show that consumers want connectivity wherever they go," said John Haynes, Product Manager, Al & Ed's Autosound. "While other technologies like wireless cards and hotspots can provide connectivity, nothing matches the flexibility of Autonet Mobile's solution for car enthusiasts, commuters, and families. We're very proud to be one of the company's first retail partners."

Al & Ed's is California's largest mobile electronics and communications specialty retailer. As one of the originators of the mobile electronics industry, Al & Ed's Autosound was instrumental in the pioneering of innovations such as FM radio for cars, cassette players for cars and the first car alarms, and is viewed within the mobile electronics world as a "barometer for the industry." Customers can purchase the Autonet Mobile wireless router at any Al & Ed's location or online

"Al & Ed's is the premier brand name in innovative aftermarket retailers," said Sterling Pratz, CEO of Autonet Mobile. "Savvy passengers are moving away from DVDs and looking for interactive services such as on-line games, downloadable content and search when they are in the car. Al & Ed's customer base of early adopters and smart technology consumers epitomizes the growing opportunity for in-car internet and we're eager to deliver the digital lifestyle experience to their cars."
