Updated File Sharing Software Provides More Control Options

— November 02, 2012

GroupLogic announced the newest version of its secure enterprise file sharing software, activEcho 2.6. The solution provides IT managers and administrators with more options for improved control in areas such as management, process visibility, security, and deployment flexibility while furthering the workforce’s ability to access critical files on the platform of their own choosing under secure IT management.
A recent survey by Acronis at VMworld in San Francisco found file synchronization, data protection, device compatibility and information security to be equally concerning issues resulting from the BYOD phenomenon. Additionally, almost half of respondents admitted to using Dropbox for corporate file sharing without approval.
According to a Gartner report, “Consumer-grade personal file synchronization services are creating huge potential for data leakage, version conflicts and compliance gaps.” The report also notes, “A growing number of enterprise decision makers are concerned that ubiquitous file sharing onto personal devices via the cloud needs to be controlled.”
The solution was designed specifically to allow enterprise users to sync files safely and securely from anywhere and on any device, giving IT the peace of mind and comfort of knowing no files will be shared without access approval.
Specific features of the solution include:

  • Enhanced security: User account expiration, invite expiration, ability to allow or prevent guests from inviting others and control over list visibility
  • Process visibility and ease of use: Single-click access to changed files and a recently changed files list
  • Management: Log and user views with pagination, new filters and performance enhancements, individual user quotas and load balancing across multiple nodes
  • Deployment flexibility and platform coverage: Android support for tablets and smart phones
