ASUS Launches Fonepad
Starting this month, ASUS is offering its Fonepad, a handheld device with 3G voice and mobile data. The product, running on Android 4.1, debuted at Mobile World Congress.
Featuring a 7-inch screen and metallic design, the device is powered by a new Intel Atom Z2420 processor. Weighing in at 340g, with a slim 10.4mm profile, the Fonepad has 1080p full HD video decoding and up to nine hours of battery life.
The screen features 10-point multi-touch, and 1280 x 800 HD resolution. IPS technology offers 178-degree wide viewing angles. Built-in 3G with HSPA+ mobile data allows for web browsing, downloads and streaming of audio and video.
With full 3G telephony support, the Fonepad can also be used for voice calls using the built-in noise-cancelling digital microphone or a Bluetooth headset.
Available with 8GB or 16GB of storage, the device also has an SD card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage. All models feature a front 1.2-megapixel for video chat and an optional rear 3-megapixel autofocus camera with 720p HD video recording. In addition, the device has ASUS SonicMaster audio technology with MaxxAudio 3 processing by Waves.
The device comes with a variety of exclusive ASUS productivity apps including Floating App for management of running apps and simpler multi-tasking, SuperNote lite for handwritten notes and drawing and WebStorage Office Online for Microsoft Office-compatible document editing on the move.
Users also get 5GB of free lifetime ASUS WebStorage for syncing and sharing data with other devices. Additional apps and accessories are available including the VersaSleeve 7, a wraparound cover with a folding design, and Turn Case, a lightweight hardshell that features a soft interior.
