AirWatch to Launch Android Email Container
AirWatch, a mobile device security and management (MDM) systems provider, is getting ready to launch the Android Email Container as an enhancement to its mobile email management (MEM) solution. The container supports over-the-air configuration of Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) email accounts for Android devices.
The company will officially present the container, along with a series of other announcements, during AirWatch Connect 2013, the mobility user group conference at Mobile World Congress. MWC is scheduled for Feb. 25–27.
The Android Email Container uses a FIPS-validated cryptographic module with advanced security, policy and configuration features including passcode enforcement and AES 256-bit encryption of email data and attachments. In addition, attachment restrictions can be set either to disable attachments entirely or restrict size and viewing options.
The container offers support for common email authentication types and the ability to set sync settings and intervals for email, contacts and calendar. In addition, the solution can be integrated with AirWatch's Secure Email Gateway and PowerShell management.
The Android Email Container will be available as an optional add-on component to the company's existing mobile device management solution.
