JackBe's Presto Platform Delivers Self-Service Mobile Business Intelligence

By Tony Rizzo

JackBe, a vendor focused on real-time business intelligence, is making available the latest release of the company’s flagship mobile BI platform, Presto 3.2. JackBe has its roots in building both rich Internet business applications, as well as in developing Web-based mash-up environments. The company has now moved its focus and expertise in these areas to delivering real time mobile BI capabilities.

The new release features a set of self-service support to deliver real-time operational dashboards and apps for smartphones and tablets that utilizes a user interface designed specifically to help mobile business users. Unlike mobile BI solutions that require developer-created reports and views, Presto 3.2 supports an intuitive self-service paradigm through a simple point-and-click approach in order to create mobile BI solutions from any enterprise and social media data.

Presto 3.2 extends Presto’s existing user-friendly point-and-click environment for power users and business analysts to create Real-Time Operational Dashboards and Apps. Presto 3.2 includes two native iOS Apps, Presto Mobile for iPhone and Presto Mobile for iPad, that give business users an intuitive, secure mobile portal to view, save, and share all real-time BI within a single, secure enterprise App. Presto Mobile for iPhone and Presto Mobile for iPad also improves enterprise data security by tightly connecting directly with all existing enterprise authorization systems.

Based upon proprietary HTML5 intelligent presentation detection technology, Presto automatically detects and adapts to different native environments like smartphones, tablets, browsers, and enterprise portals, including SharePoint and Liferay. Self-service users only need to create their BI solutions once, avoiding the need for a developer for each specialized destination.

These self-service users - line of business directors, executives and sales-focused road warriors, chief among others - are all placing strong demands on enterprise IT to deliver real-time BI capabilities to these users' smartphones and tablets - such anytime, anywhere information is rapidly becoming a key piece of any organization's field BI strategy. To meet this emerging demand JackBe focuses on two key issues: the need to make real-time BI solutions easy to assemble and literally trivial to deploy.

To accomplish this JackBe delivers a platform that provides seamless device support and simple point-and-click tools to access needed enterprise data sources (including sourves that provide real time data feeds) and to render the data into reports that make specific sense to specific users and groups of users. Putting consumption and creation of real-time intelligence in the hands of the mobile user that most directly needs it - in the process eliminating the need for IT to get involved - significantly reduces deployment time and improves the ROI of real-time BI efforts.
