Nimbula Launches Cloud Migration Service

By Ariel Jones
Nimbula announced the release of a new Cloud Migration Service, which will help organizations transfer their online operations from a public to private cloud infrastructure.

With this new professional service offering, Nimbula aims to deliver the advantages of using a public cloud while also facilitating the transition to a private or hybrid cloud infrastructure that is tailored to a company’s specific needs.

After assessing a company’s public cloud service consumption and analyzing the financial impact of deployment use, the Cloud Migration Service tool crafts a technical design and transition plan. Included in this plan are evaluations of applications, the proper tools and procedures to carry out the transition, and recommendations for implementation from Nimbula’s staff.

These services are geared towards organizations that may have started their online operations on a public cloud infrastructure during their initial growth phase, when demand was unclear; but as their operations grow, they were able to reassess workload characteristics.

"Customers love the flexibility and self-service aspects of public clouds such as Amazon EC2," said Nishan Sathyanarayan, Director of Professional Services at Nimbula. "They often want those same benefits and control in a deployment model that uses both their own and public infrastructure."

Sathyanarayan explained that the new Nimbula solution provides an initial technical design and migration plan for a private cloud that can also be integrated with a public cloud as needed.

Nimbula’s Cloud Migration Service was designed to work with its other cloud development applications, including the Nimbula Director cloud management tool.
